Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of DuoMidi (the "Service"), operated by Frederico Guth (pessoa física), Brasília, Brazil. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

DuoMidi is a web application that lets two people share a remote piano session. Video, audio, and MIDI data are transmitted directly between peers via WebRTC; our server only relays the signaling messages needed to establish that peer-to-peer connection. Each session room is limited to two participants.

2. Eligibility

The Service is open to users of all ages. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you should use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

3. Your account

To use most features, you sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to use only one account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • harass, threaten, or abuse other users;
  • record, capture, or rebroadcast another participant's video, audio, or performance without their explicit consent;
  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to transmit unlawful content;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure;
  • reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise probe the Service except as permitted by law;
  • impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of your video, audio, and MIDI performance. By using the Service, you grant us only the limited technical license required to relay signaling messages and to enable the peer-to-peer transmission of your content to your session partner. We do not store, copy, or otherwise use your performance content.

6. Hardware requirements

DuoMidi does not include software synthesis. Sound is produced only by physical MIDI hardware. Using the Service requires a compatible MIDI device, a microphone, and a camera. You are responsible for the cost, configuration, and operation of your own hardware and network.

7. Service availability

The Service is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime, continuous availability, or that any specific session will succeed. The Service runs with scale-to-zero hosting, so the first session of an idle period may experience a cold start. Some peer connections may fail due to restrictive network configurations (for example, symmetric NAT), because we currently provide STUN-only NAT traversal and no TURN relay.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL FREDERICO GUTH BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (CURRENTLY ZERO, AS THE SERVICE IS FREE) OR (B) BRL 100.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if continued operation poses a risk to the Service or other users.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively before the courts of the Foro de Brasília, Distrito Federal, Brazil, except where mandatory consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
